The .zip file is frequently found on the Internet as a downloadable file. A zip file can consist of may individual files compressed into a single file that can then be downloaded from the web site. A typical example is a product catalogue, all your product data can be 'zipped' into one file and a link put on your web site that will invoke a 'download'.
